Perth Amboy Gallery Center for the Arts Spring 2009 Class Schedule

The Perth Amboy Gallery Center for the Arts has announced its Spring 2009 schedule. The gallery located at 339 Reade St. offers ceramics, painting, sculpture, photography, poetry, dance and crafts classes for children, teens, adults and seniors.
 
Classes begin Saturday, May 9.  Classes with fewer than 5 students are subject to change and/or may result in cancellation. 
 
The gallery is fully funded by the City of Perth Amboy's Business Improvement District (BID), which operates under the administration of the Urban Enterprise Zone Program (UEZ). 

The following is the Spring 2009 schedule.

Guitar Lessons
Ages: 8 to Teens
This class is for students interested in learning the basics of playing
guitar. Students must bring their own guitar.
Mondays: 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Or Wednesdays: 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Fee: $65:00 per eight sessions
 
Guitar Lessons
Age groups: Teens to Adults
This is an intermediate class for playing guitar. Students must bring their own acoustic or classic guitar. 
Tuesdays: 4:00-5:30 p.m.
Or Thursdays: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Fee: $85:00 per eight sessions
 
Flute Lessons
Learn to play the flute. Student must bring their own instrument.
Mondays: 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per eight sessions

Painting, Drawing and Sculpture
Age groups: Teens to Adults
Students will acquire knowledge of the variety of approaches in drawing and
painting techniques.
Saturdays: 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per eight classes
Material Fee: $5.00

Hands-On Art Activities for Children
Ages: 6 to 9
Students learn the essentials in drawing and painting.
Materials included
Saturdays: 12:00-1:00 p.m.
Fee: $45 per eight sessions

Art Experience
Age groups: Teens to Seniors
This course is designed to challenge the imagination and stimulate creativity. It will give students an opportunity to develop technical skills and
explore the creative process with a wide range of techniques, including:
drawing, painting and mixed media.
Fridays: 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Thursdays: 3:30-4:30 to Seniors only
Fee: $45.00 per eight sessions
Material fee: $5.00

Sculpture
Ages: 7 to Adults
All about creating animals, human forms and other figures using clay, wax
and various art materials.
Saturdays: 11:00 to 12:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per eight sessions
Material Fee: $5.00
 
Sculpting the Figure
Ages: 7 to Adults
Learn how to make original human figures using clay and other art materials.
Saturdays: 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per eight sessions
Material Fee: $5.00

Crochet
Age group: Adults
Tuesday 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Material Fee: $5.00

Cartooning
All secrets of drawing cartoons
For ages: 7-10: Wednesdays: 4:00-5:00 p.m.
For ages: 4-6: Thursday: 5:00-6:00 p.m.
                   or Friday: 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per eight sessions
 
Printmaking
All about printing techniques on paper and a range of other materials
Ages: 7-10
Saturdays: 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per eight sessions
Material fee: $5.00
 
Printmaking for Teens
Ages: Teens
Learning the printing process using various materials
Saturdays: 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per eight sessions
Material fee: $5.00

Watercolor Painting
Ages: 7 to 10
Students learn the essentials in painting using watercolor
Materials included
Saturdays: 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per eight sessions

Digital Photography
Open to all ages
All about basic digital photography and editing by creating
photo-books and collages. There will be a final student exhibition. Students must
bring their own digital camera.
Wednesdays: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Mondays: 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per five sessions

Drawing Manga Style
Ages: 7 to 10
All about drawing Manga style cartooning, a Japanese anime style of
drawing.
Saturdays: 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00  per eight sessions

Drawing Manga Style
Age group: Teens
All about drawing Manga style cartooning, a Japanese anime style of
drawing.
Saturdays: 6:00-7:00 p.m
Fee: $45.00 per eight sessions

Exploring Pastels
Ages: 7-10
All about working and drawing with soft and oil pastels
Mondays: 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per eight sessions
 
Exploring Portraiture
Ages group: Teens
Learn how to create portraits using pastels and other art mediums
Mondays: 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per eight sessions

Spoken Word
Students learn how to write and then present their writing through spoken
word combining creative writing and performance. This includes monthly performing presentations in the gallery.
Open to all ages
Mondays: 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Fridays: 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Fee:  $45.00 per eight sessions

Dance Lessons with the Brandis Dance Theater
Open to all ages
Learn how to dance Salsa, Cha-Cha-Cha, Tango and Bachata
Tuesdays: 7:00-8:00 p.m.
O Wednesday: 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per five sessions  

Acting And Performing Art with Claudio Mir
Open to all ages
Thursdays: 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Fee: $45.00 per five sessions

Bomba y Plena Dance Class with Nelson Baez
Director of Puerto Rican group, Los Cimarrones
Open to all ages
Saturdays: 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Small Chamber Music Group for Children/Youth
