The Office of Housing and Social Services predominately administers the Home Improvement Grant Program, First Time Soft Cost Homebuyers Program, Exterior Paint Reimbursement Program and Safe Housing Program. The Office also serves as a liaison for residents seeking help with particular social services/housing issues. They also assist with relocation of fire victims. Applications for the programs listed below can be picked up at the Office of Housing/Social Services, 1 Olive Street (2nd Floor), Perth Amboy. Home Improvement Grant Program
For Owner-Occupied Senior Citizens And Disabled Home Owners
Funded by the City of Perth Amboy HUD-CDBG Program
Grant Eligibility Requirements
- Homeowner(s) must occupy their home within the City
- Municipal taxes, water, and sewer bills must be paid to date.
- Home Insurance Policy must be current.
- Meet HUD-CDBG BLOCK GRANT Income Eligibility and Program Criteria.
- Maximum assistance per receipient is up to $10,000 for qualified residents.
First Time Homebuyers
Soft Cost Assistance Grant Program
Funded by the City of Perth Amboy HUD-CDBG Program
Grant Eligibility Requirements
- First Time Homebuyers only
- For the purchase of a Perth Amboy home.
- Must occupy the property as a principal residence and whose family qualifies as a low/moderate income family at the time of purchase.
- Maximum assistance per recipient is $5,000.00.

Grant Eligibility Requirements
- Homeowner(s) must occupy their home within the City
- Municipal taxes, water, and sewer bills must be paid to date.
- Home Insurance Policy must be current.
- Meet HUD-CDBG BLOCK GRANT Income Eligibility and Program Criteria.
- Maximum reimbursement is $400.00.
General Contrators Needed
for the Home Improvement Program
General Contractors are needed for upcoming projects. To register with us, you must provide us with your state license, business registration and current certificate of insurance.
