Mayor Wilda Diaz and The City of Perth Amboy, Department of Public Works are pleased to provide the services to our citizens on a daily basis to ensure that all residents receive the highest quality of service, clean safe streets, clean neighborhoods, courteous efficient collection.

The City of Perth Amboy Department of Public Works offers a wide array of services to our residents. To assist you in contacting the appropriate office and/or Personnel, listed below are the General Guidelines and information for your convenience.

Sanitation Division:

Regular trash collection is provided to residents twice a week.

North Side: Monday mornings and Thursday mornings.
South Side: Tuesday mornings and Friday mornings

We request that you use a 32 gal. plastic receptacle as well as a plastic bag insert. Place your garbage out at the curb the evening before collection day.

Parks Division:

Responsible for the maintenance & upkeep of 300 plus acres of parks system & ball parks, soccer fields, waterfront area, and youth league complex. Also maintains the City tree trim and removal program for diseased and damaged trees. Provides a wide variety of services for many of our residents who enjoy the parks system.

Buildings and Grounds:

Perform maintenance, upkeep, and repairs on our many City owned buildings and properties. Assists in the preparation, set up, and break down of City functions such as festivals, press conferences, and events run throughout the year.

Recycling Division:

Wednesday - collection of recyclable material

We STRONGLY URGE all residents to recycle. It’s the Law... It also saves the environment and your tax dollars by diverting trash and dumping fees. Please call us if you need more information.

Road Repair & Day Crew Division:

Repair of potholes and unsafe street conditions including spills and clearing of streets. Also handles the Day Crew Duties such as special appointments and Leaf Collection.

Special Appointments:

Rubbish appointments are made Monday mornings only at 7:30 AM by calling us at 732-826-2010.

Appointments for Rubbish are suspended for leaf season, October through December.

Appointments for METAL are taken year round.

NOT ACCEPTED: concrete, commercial and heavy construction debris.

Residential DROP OFF of Rubbish/Debris at our Transfer Station; Please call on a daily basis on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday’s at 11:00 AM for feasibility of dropping off your rubbish items, (furniture, rugs, wood, etc.) Please contact the Public Works Department for more information and specific dates. Our open hours are 12 PM - 2 PM

Electrical Division:

Makes emergency repairs to flashing lights and downed traffic light poles. Maintains the electrical system for City owned buildings and specific lighting throughout the City.

Leaf bags are distributed at the Public Works facility, 599 Fayette Street, beginning each October during the leaf season.

Electronics are now recycled Drop off only - TV's, Computers etc. Call 732-826-2010 for further guidelines.
