Councilwoman Geri Bolanowski, a life-long resident of Perth Amboy, is the longest serving woman on the City Council. She began her first 4-year term on July 1, 1998 and is currently serving her third term.
She graduated from Perth Amboy High School and attended Montclair State College. She also received a certificate for the completion of the Rutgers Municipal Elected Official Program in 1999, as well as certificates from Cornell University in Human Resources and Customer Relations.
In addition to her service as Councilwoman, she presently holds the position of Executive Secretary to the Vice President of the Meat Division for Wakefern Food Corporation, where she has been employed since 1988. She is also the Chairperson of the Southern Perishables Facility Activities Committee at Wakefern.
As a devoted volunteer and contributor, Councilwoman Bolanowski has been involved with over 30 organizations. Currently, she is a member of the Alcohol & Beverage Commission and the Perth Amboy Redevelopment Agency.
Councilwoman Bolanowski has received numerous awards from various organizations and departments, including the Perth Amboy Police Department for her Contribution, Dedication & Commitment to PCPP/Safe Haven Program. She also received a Certificate of Appreciation for her service and support to the Waterfront Festivals awarded to her by the Perth Amboy Chamber of Commerce. Senator Joseph Vitale has also recognized her for participating and contributing to Back Pack for Foster Children.
During her term as a council member, she aspires to make decisions that will stabilize the economic environment for future generations of residents. Her goal is also to approve redevelopment projects that will transform the environmentally challenged landscape of the city into an environmentally friendly ratable.
She and her husband Robert have two sons, John Paul and Marcus Scott.
