Councilman Kenneth L. Gonzalez has been a proud resident of the City of Perth Amboy almost his entire life and has an extensive resume of community involvement. Mr. Gonzalez resides with his wife, Jeanette and their two children, Michael and Kimberly.
As a youth, Mr. Gonzalez attended the Ukrainian Assumption School until graduating in 1983. Subsequently, he attended Perth Amboy High School where he graduated with honors in 1987. After high school, Mr. Gonzalez graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kean University where he earned a B.A. in Political Science in 1992. In 1995, Mr. Gonzalez graduated from Rutgers University School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor degree. Afterwards, he served as Judicial Law Clerk to Superior Court Judge Hector E. DeSoto. From 1996 until 2001, Mr. Gonzalez worked as an attorney associated with the Law Offices of Rabb, Hamill & Stillman in Woodbridge, N.J. In 2001, Mr. Gonzalez formed the Law Offices of Kenneth L. Gonzalez & Associates in Perth Amboy, N.J. where he continues to represent private clients in general legal matters.
He is a former president of the Perth Amboy Housing Development Corporation as well as a past vice-president of the Board of Directors of the Kiddie Keep Well Camp in Edison, N.J. He has also served as a Commissioner on the Perth Amboy Redevelopment Agency which identifies areas of the City in need of redevelopment. In 2006, Mr. Gonzalez joined the Board of Directors of the Perth Amboy Boys & Girls Clubs and currently serves as the vice-president of that organization. .
In 1999, Mr. Gonzalez was elected by the voters of Perth Amboy to serve on the Perth Amboy Board of Education where he served until 2010. He served as vice-president of the Board of Education from 2002 until 2008 when he was elected by his fellow members as president of the Board. Mr. Gonzalez served as president of the Board of Education until 2010 when he ran for his seat on the Perth Amboy City Council.
