PERTH AMBOY POLICE DEPARTMENT CIVILIAN POLICE ACADEMY

    PURPOSE

The purpose of the Perth Amboy Police Department Civilian Police Academy is to give citizens a unique insight into the challenging world of Law Enforcement.  Participants will gain an understanding of the complexity of policing in a modern society, through classroom instruction and practical, hands on application of what they have learned in simulated police/citizen encounters.

    REQUIREMENTS

Participants must be 18 years of age or older and reside or work in the City of Perth Amboy.  Applicants must pass a criminal background check and sign a waiver in order to participate in the activities that are part of the curriculum.

    CLASS SIZE AND LOCATION

All instruction will take place in the Training Room at Police Headquarters and on Police property.  The exception would be a field trip to the Middlesex County Police Academy to utilize the F.A.T.S. simulator.

Class size will be limited to twenty participants.  The classes will be conducted once a week.  The two hour sessions will be held on Thursday evenings between 6:30pm and 8:30pm.

The Academy will run for approximately 12 weeks beginning September 16, 2010 and concluding on December 9, 2010.
