| Perth Amboy Partners with Keep Middlesex Moving PERTH AMBOY, NJ— Mayor Wilda Diaz along with Keep Middlesex Moving, Inc (KMM) are proud to announce the inaugural Street Corner Safety event that will be hosted by Perth Amboy on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Fink Park located on the corner of Smith Street and Madison Avenue. The Street Corner Safety event was created by KMM in response to the new pedestrian safety law, which requires drivers to stop and remain stopped for pedestrians. KMM is helping to drive home the message with bright yellow tote bags stating STOP for Pedestrians in Crosswalks. “I look for forward to partnering with Keep Middlesex Moving as we continue to keep our children and other pedestrians safe in our City.” Executive Director of KMM, Bill Neary credited a Middlesex County employee with coming up with the concept for the tote bags. He said, “this individual created a Stop for Pedestrians sign that she carried as she crossed the street in New Brunswick. KMM took it one step further and created tote bags.” Neary said, “The message is very simple. If you’re a pedestrian, think before you cross the street. If you’re a driver, behave responsibly and stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk.” Keep Middlesex Moving, Inc., is Middlesex County's non-profit transportation management association. KMM is affiliated with the Middlesex County Improvement Authority. Since 1988, KMM has partnered with commuters, employers, local, county, and state government to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality. | Location : Fink Park located on the corner of Smith Street and Madison Avenue Contact : 732.826.0290 ext. 4006 |
